Good Deeds

Have you ever been surprised by a strangers kindness when they have done a good deed?

This week several days apart I was blessed with this happening to me two times.

Many years ago we had turned in photo albums with pictures to an attorney that represented our son in a child custody case. Our son and his wife turned in another album. We honestly both forgot about getting back the albums and like I said years have passed by.

Somehow the albums ended up in a dumpster nearby where this man named Frank worked. Frank a former photographer himself knew the value of family photos and he picked up the albums. My business card just happened to be inside the album I had turned in. The only problem was it had our home phone number on it we no longer have. That is when he searched the internet for a new number and called me. Today I picked up those two photo albums that would have been lost forever had it not been for Frank.  Thank you so much, Frank, for taking the time to do this good deed.

Today I had gone to a smaller grocery store chain to pick up some pickling spices for our daughter. Her cucumbers are making so many that her kids are eating them for snacks, she’s giving them away and she decided to make some pickles. While standing in line at the checkout this older gentlemen probably in his 80s told the checker he wanted to pay for my stuff with his. I said, “Sir you honestly do not have to do that but thank you so much for offering.” He said no I want to. I said, “so today you’re doing a good deed he said that is exactly it.” I told him “Thank you very much and to have a great day.”

There are still good people in this world who do good things out of the kindness of their heart and expect nothing in return. Complete strangers who take the time to do something nice. I would like to thank you both for crossing my path this week.

Now it’s my turn to pay it forward two times.

  1. People being kind is a trait we can not lose. I wrote a message this morning to a bunch of brothers and sisters and I would like to share my feelings with yall as well. I went down to the River yesterday to pray and spend some time with the Lord. As I dug up a bunch of tree stumps in the sweltering heat of the Brazos river bottom I was able to think clearly. Thankful for the heat and sweat that disguised my constant flow of tears. A source of pride I am more than sure the Lord will fix. Whoever penned real men don’t cry, failed to read Jesus wept as He was troubled over the death of Lazarus whom He loved. We failed to bring up our children in the fear of the Lord. We are gonna continue to have disruptions in life that we blame on others. So many times I witness mothers and fathers not disciplining their children. We are the culprits. It says in Ephesians 6:4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. God’s word in Psalms 100:2 talks about Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. Proverbs 13:24 states He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. God also says in Proverbs 23:13-14 13 Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. 14 Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell. I sorta feel this way if we as loving parents fail to discipline our children correctly just maybe the correction facility will do what we failed to. And remember this one way of stopping a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun. Only a fool would take a gun away from a good guy. Its time to act. We have had enough moments of silence. Get Right is my advice. Love yall. Have a good and Godly day. Doug <

  2. We seldom hear about the good things people do. When I picked up my me ID card as the lines are long and it was chilly morning someone lent me a blanket to keep warm. Everyone keep their place in line.
