Kiwi the Conure

When our daughter Jeanelle went to work at Petsmart many years ago at the age of 16 she decided she needed a Conure.

One day she came home with this small Nanday Conure and little did we know how noisy this bird would become.

Years later she went off to college and Kiwi had to stay home with us. Over the years he had a companion Grey Bird our first cockatiel who was actually older than Kiwi he died after a few years then Lemon our second cockatiel.

Lemon and Kiwi quickly bonded as neighbor birds their cages were next to each other and looked out the front of the house towards the driveway.

All of a sudden Wednesday night I found Kiwi dead in the bottom of his cage we figured it up and he was 21 years old which is a long time for any animal. I am sure he died of old age their life expectancy is 20 – 25 years.

Since Lemon is now about 10 years old I am not starting any new bird additions youtube will have to keep him company.

The house is so quiet no squaking at the Amazon, UPS or Fed Ex trucks no advance notice of the garbage truck or mail truck or for someone approaching our yard. He was always the guard bird the first one to notice something and this would alarm the dogs and suddenly Lemon would start in and we sounded like a Zoo.

I will miss Kiwi who I have bonded with for the last 21 years even though he started out as our daughters bird.

Pet birds can bring so much joy to your life alot more than most people realize.

Cash – AKC Champion Cane Corso

Our daughter bought Cash a three year old Cane Corso Stud from a lady in Indiana a few weeks ago.

She flew there and rented a SUV to drive back with Cash so he did not get to stressed out.

Cash is very strong much to strong for me. He is like a gentle giant and very sweet. He is Cricket’s size but has much more muscle to pull you with.

His hair feels like velvet it is so soft. He is trying to get use to the temperature changes from Indiana to Texas so our photo session was short and sweet.

Today October 7th, 2023 Cash became a AKC Champion which all goes back to his previous owner who was only 1 point off of doing this before she sold him to Jeanelle.

Shady Acres Leggett is proud to add this new stud to their lineup of Cane Corso’s.

Mr. O’Malley

This little kitten ended up at our grandkids house in Livingston.

At the time he was maybe 3 weeks old our daughter took it to the vet to kind of get an estimate of his age and to get him checked out. He was full of fleas and she has not seen any fleas on their animals so they knew someone had dumped him. I have no idea how people can do this.

Now he is about 12 weeks old and hes growing so fast and they named him Mr. O’Malley because of a cat in the movie Aristocats. He is waiting to get old enough to get fixed because a few male cats show up on their property to fight him.

His best friends are 3 young dachshund puppies they play chase all the time.

He is very photogenic and very handsome.
