Parks and safety

My sister and I walk & bike ride and this week we joined a gym.

Today we were walking in one of our favorite parks that happens to be mostly shaded and you are surrounded by nature.

We had done round 1 of the trails and were on the path part.

There normally is us and 4 others at this park in the early morning this is at 7:00 a.m.

I looked up and I see this guy standing by his car but he is obviously watching this young girl 25ish running. I told my sister I had a bad feeling. I took out my mace spray and moved it where I could get to it easier just in case we needed it.

The girl had lapped us she was running not jogging and she was heading toward the guy when he all of a sudden he raised the hood of his car. Once she spotted him I think she knew something was not quite right she turned around and went the other direction.

We kept walking hoping to cross paths with her but she actually went to another park across the street so she was safe.

We continued to watch the guy without letting on we were watching him. All of a sudden after we are coming around the path he headed to the trails where we were going next. He left his hood up on his car and the windows down and was walking the trails the whole thing was creepy.

Once he was out of site we got into my truck and left but not until we drove past his car to get the license plate number just in case we might need it.

I am glad to know the girl left the park but I do not think he knew this. I think he went looking for her on the trails. It was one of the scariest things ever I just felt he was up to no good by watching his actions.

First of all, no one should run, walk, jog or bike by themselves it is just not safe. Make sure you pay attention to what is going on around you it could save your life or someone else’s.

The trails are very secluded through a brushy tree area and often times you do not see anyone on the trails. The trails are 1 mile there and back so no one would see you unless they were going down the trails.

We have since decided not to go back to the park for a while because it really bothered us both.

Remember there is always SAFETY in Numbers and please pay attention to what is going on around you.

Morning Glory

Good morning to the morning glory vine and flowers.

This flowering vine really puts on a show.

My sister gave me this one and it is in a pot but and I have it wrapped around a small oak tree.

It is one of the first things I see in the morning when I step out the back porch.

Sometimes it is the little things that can put a smile on your face in the morning.

Purple Fountain Grass

I love shopping at Lowes and their plant selection is always great.

Recently I found 3 purple fountain grass in quart containers for $3.00 each. They were on the clearance aisle but did not look bad at all. I think the regular price was $9.00 each.

I brought them home we planted them in pots and gave them some miracle grow and a few weeks later they have now doubled in size.

Taking pictures of grasses and blooms with my macro lens has always been something I enjoy.

DIY – Concrete projects

I LOVE playing with concrete even though its hard to mix up and pour.

Recently I have been making stepping stones.
I buy the glass marble flat rocks for decoration they are cheapest at the dollar store.
The square mosaic tiles come in a sheet at Lowes and Home Depot.
To start out I bought a large plastic food tray at Walmart in the summer stuff, and some metal bowl pans in the dog section. I had a few plastic buckets from the dollar store to use.

Instructions:
Spray your mold with any nonstick cooking spray.
Mix up your sakrete as directed.
Pour some into the mold, then add the wire then pour the rest.
Let it sit 15 – 20 minutes and add the stones if they sink wait a bit longer.
Let dry overnight and they fall right out of the molds due to using the nonstick spray.

If you want to make a flower pot you will need a mold and something as the insert which will have to be weighted down. Use the nonstick cooking spray on the outside of what you are inserting in the middle and spray your mold just like before. I used some square containers and then inserted the plastic flower pots and weighted them down with rocks.
Wait about the same amount of time to insert your stones as above. You can use rocks like I used on the bigger one. Let dry overnight and both of the molds should pop right out. I made a mistake and did not allow for the drainage holes so make sure to do that first.

You can get about 4 stepping stones per bag of sakcrete maybe 5 if you do the smaller ones.

I love anything DIY and playing with concrete is fun and inexpensive.

The succulent Purslane

This beautiful succulent is called Purslane or Portulaca.

It is an annual it works well in pots or planted in a flower bed.

The flowers bloom like crazy as long as the sun is shining but they close up every evening.

This plant is a good bang for the buck for instant, fast-growing color.

Pulmonologist

I went to my first ever pulmonologist a few weeks ago and I really do not know a whole lot. I had a CT lung scan a few weeks before that.

In two more months, I will have another CT lung scan to recheck some things that were found on the first one.

I will also be doing some breathing test to check on some lung issues that were found.

Things show up on these scans that require further testing, rescanning and more evaluations with other tests. In other words, one test leads to another then to another.

Needless to say, I left there with an inhaler ( Symbicort) the first one I have ever had and very few answers as far as the CT lung scan report goes.

I am not a patient person and having to wait to see what is up really drives me crazy.

Fourth Of July

Everyone, please remember that most pets do not like fireworks. Many run away from home if left outside during the fireworks. Bring the pets in so they have the security.

Daisy does not seem bothered by them but then again she stays in the house.

Have a safe and Happy Fourth of July.
