DIY Planters

I love crafting and it had been a while since I have made anything.

I saw on Pinterest how to make tile planter boxes and I knew this was the project for me.

A quick trip to Lowes only to find out there were no 6-inch tiles and they did not have many pattern tiles that were 12-inch. I bought what they had to make 4 planters. Each planter takes 5 pieces and if you do it the exact size there are no cuts to make.

I have issues using the caulking gun so I got Jack to do that part for me.

I did find later on the internet they make squeeze tubes of construction adhesive and I can do that when I run out of what I have.

You do need to wipe off the construction adhesive on the edges then after 24 hours of drying time you can paint the edges to match your planter. Some of mine turned out neater than others but now I know next time to wipe off early.

I have about $5.00 in each planter so this is a very cost-effective project. One day this week I will get to Floor and Decor for a bigger variety and cheaper options so I can make more. I want some bright-colored tiles with the Morrocan flare.

When it comes to the bottom tile you will find there will be a few gaps you can seal some of it off in the inside of the box with the adhesive but leave some for drainage then you do not have to drill holes. My planters were for outdoors and I planted some of my overabundance of Aloe Vera.

I loved this project and can not wait to make more. I want some tiny succulent planters and some large rectangle planters. You could even make some tall skinny planters with the rectangle tiles.

Be creative its good for the mind and the soul.

Spider plants

This plant is known as the spider plant, ribbon plant an airplane plant.

They grow fast and usually have 4- 6 strands of babies hanging off with 10 – 12 babies total.

Mine have gone nuts this year to the point I have 3 hanging baskets and these 2 large containers plus I have given away many.

The big plant probably has a100 baby spiders on it. You can take these off and plant them in the dirt to get a new plant it’s really a unique plant.

These are in the morning sun but afternoon shade and I think that is why they like it so much.

I have 3 hanging baskets on the back porch in full shade.

I love my spider plants they are a good bang for your buck.

Dove peek a boo

Around here you never know what might be sticking its head up from a feeder.

You could only see this dove’s head and she was so pretty.

After living here for almost 43 years, raccoons can be seen eating the bird seed at night. I am trying not to put out too much to avoid them moving in full-time.

I think it’s so sad that all the woods in our area are now subdivisions and the wildlife is being chased out.

We must protect our wildlife the best we can. I genuinely enjoy taking pictures of my visitors.

Clearing our Property

We have paid the mulcher 2 times to clear our property then we paid the tree plucker 2 times plus he did some mulching at the end.

None of this would have been possible without our daughter Jeanelle supervising the mulchers and tree pluckers while they were there. Our son-in-law David did our first burning and it took a few days to burn out.

Basically, if you are buying forest land please know up front this will cost you about $5000.00 to do for two acres.

They have to clear an area so you can burn the trees without burning the forest. This of course has to happen when there is no burn ban. In the meantime, you have huge piles of trees to look at. This picture was at the beginning of the new piles the second tree plucking and after the first burning of piles.

What you can do is pick and choose the trees you want to keep. We wanted to keep some magnolias, sweet gums, oaks, maples and a few we were not sure of the names. I love trees and I know it takes a long time to get them to grow very big. I wanted to save plenty of trees even if we have to cut some down later on. We found 10-foot tall or taller magnolias.

Next up we will get the electricity and the well.

We think we are building kinda to the left in this picture. Every time we go there we have problems trying to decide. It’s not easy to figure this out especially when you know later on you will add onto this for your new permanent residence.

Right now we have sunrise behind us and sunset in front of us it really is perfect.

In the cabin, I want a lot of large windows as many as I can get because I want to see the outdoors while indoors. In other words, I want to be one with nature.

Being surrounded by trees and wildlife is going to be wonderful plus having the grandkids within walking distance down the trails.

Wildflowers from the birds

This year, we have been finding the black oiled sunflowers all over our yard and pasture.

Well, this makes sense because I feed that seed.

The wildlife reseeds the seed you feed them, which is a win-win situation for all of us.

Life is good and these flowers can survive our drought then I have something to photograph.

Zoee turns four years old

Our little Zoee turns four years old today shes such a little firecracker.

She loves to run as fast as she can, jump for sticks and play in the water hose. When Daisy is around she likes to play keep away but it’s a competition to play fetch together.

She also loves to snuggle up next to you when you are watching tv. There are times when I am at the computer she will come up and lay her head on my leg just to let me know she’s there.

Boxer dogs are affectionate, loyal, and protective.

Fluffy little puppy kisses

Coco Chanel (Cici) the chocolate-colored Dachshund had her first litter of puppies.

They are almost 6 weeks old and so adorable I want to keep them all.

I love taking pictures of puppies and the Long-haired Dachshunds are so cute.

The brown and white male has not been reserved yet but the other two are reserved.

Shady Acres Leggett puppies are top quality, registered, and health checked. These 3 all have chocolate noses. If you are interested in a puppy contact Jeanelle on Facebook.

Fluffy little puppy kisses now that’s a good thing.
