Mr. Bird Update

Mr. Bird seems to be doing pretty well since his kidney issue.

I kept him in the house for a few weeks so I could syringe water a few times a day to make sure he was drinking enough. He also had medication that he needed.

He was so glad to get to go back outside again since he loves the outdoors he goes in and out a few times a day.  He loves basking in the sun, climbing fences, trees and chasing birds he never catches.

Our son Jeremy told me to get a cat fountain that in convinces animals to drink more water. I found one for about $20.00. We have had it about a month and the cats seem to be drinking a lot from it.

I took him off the Science Diet Urinary food because it was $40.00 for 24 – 3 oz cans.

I wanted to try the Purina Urinary Cat food and it is $21.00 for the 3 oz cans. Almost 1/2 price so hopefully it works. I also ordered the Purina Dry Urinary food. He seems to like the foods just fine.

Mr. Bird has such a tough life he is spoiled rotten but we love him and so do the dogs lol.

Portrait lenses

I love my portrait lenses but one of my favorites is my Canon 85mm 1.8.

This particular portrait lens allows you to do close-ups with details such as in this picture with Miss Daisy resting.

This lens can isolate the subject while allowing a shallow depth of field. Basically allowing the background to be creamy and out of focus.

If you love photography and do not have a portrait lens do your self a favor and get you one.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone I hope you have your shopping done.

For me, it was easy this year I had everything but a few things shipped to our door.

Photo sessions with Miss Daisy have always been easy but add in Zoee and let the challenge begin lol

I will be posting some of the pics over the next week but I want to try one more time and get a shot I really really LOVE.

Mr. Bird

Mr. Bird has been acting strange the last couple of days. He is a neutered male cat that is almost 9 years old. He weighed in at almost 15#’s.

I was stalking him this morning using the litter box and discovered he would go to pee but nothing was coming out. Then he would cry and growl somewhat this is not normal for him.

I took him to the vet this a.m. and he took out a syringe of urine so it would help his pain he has two kinds of stones. They did a urinalysis and a looked at it under the microscope.

Apparently, this is quite common in cats but especially male cats.

He’s taking antibiotics and tomorrow we will try the catheter for a few days and do some blood work but he may end up in surgery tomorrow instead.

He seems very uncomfortable he’s such a laid back cat normally. I have him in his own room so he can rest without puppy intervention. I hate it when something is wrong with one of my animals.

The cat and dog match

Daisy has shared Zoee with Mr. Bird who does not seem to mind the clumsy feet of a boxer puppy.

They stayed like this for at least one hour then Bird got up and laid on top of Zoee.

Its wonderful everyone is getting along so well.

The little moments like this that I get to capture with my camera really make my day.

Daisy turns 5 years old

Today is Miss. Daisy’s 5th. birthday.

She got 2 new plastic pools, 3 new balls, a no pull harness so I can walk her easier at the park, breakfast and dinner scraps and plenty of dog treats. We played fetch atleast 4 times today.

Last night she got a 4-pound peanut butter jug that was down to almost nothing but she loves getting the jugs lol.

We did two outdoor photo sessions today one in the early afternoon and one a little bit ago.

Daisy’s favorite game is playing fetch multiple times a day. She gets hot then she dunks in her pool and then she is ready to go again. Notice the ball is in the pool.

She may be a year older and she has slowed down since she was a puppy but she is still very active for a 63# boxer that is 5 years old.

Happy Birthday, Daisy we love you.

Prim and Proper

Stripey was just sitting there all prim and proper so I could not resist taking a picture of him.

This was taken using my Canon 400mm lens and it really turned out quite clear and he had no idea I was taking his picture.

Early morning outing

Mr. Bird wanted out early on this day so I let him out when I went out to get some sunrise pictures.

As I looked back I saw him posing near some dead grass and I thought ” I need to take his picture”. He was staring off into the distance at something but I never could figure out what it was.

Mr. Bird lives in the house but every morning he goes outside.

He likes the springtime the best those days he will spend the most time outdoors.

Since our weather has been cooler he goes out and comes back in within one hour.

He does not like the rain, wind or heat much less the cold lol. When he is ready to come back in he sits in front of the french doors so I will see him staring in at me.

He just wants the best of both worlds indoors and outdoors.

The spirit of Shadow

This dog along with another was apparently dumped near our daughter’s house.

Our daughter put their pictures on next door a neighborhood site but no one came forward. The male was a mixed breed and the female was a lab.

She loves to swim and our daughter has a pond. This dog swims underwater and is under for like 15 seconds and you can not see her at all and then she pops back up again and starts dog paddling.

After a couple of days, she was able to catch the female and bring her to our house since we have a fenced-in back yard.

I thought that Andrew named her Shadow but out daughter said no that was his chicken. I guess I called her Shadow lol.

Daisy was so excited to have a friend to play fetch with now she is quite sad because Shadow left last night.

We figure this lab is about 1 – 1 1/2 years old and she appears to be in good health. She has been trained she does not bark but most hunting dogs do not bark, she sits, stays, lays down and plays fetch bringing a ball, stick, or even a log she drops them at your feet.

Daisy had an old collar that fit her perfectly.

I can not stress enough to everyone with pets to get them a tag with their name and your phone number on it that attaches to their collars. That way if your pet is lost you can be reunited.

As far as people dumping animals it makes me sick because animals depend on us for food, water, and shelter. When you dump them they have to survive on their own or by the kindness of strangers.

This dog stole our daughter’s heart and then she stole mine. We both wanted to keep her. The only thing stopping me from keeping her was she would not stay out of the koi pond.

Our oldest daughter was coming into town and had actually found her a home. She was going to be taking her back to Dallas. That was until she met her and fell in love with her just like we did so now Shadow will be living with her.

Of course, I had to do a photo session.

One look in a dog’s eyes and you can see through to its soul and connect with it.

Shadow’s spirit and personality are great and when everyone is falling in love with the same dog you know that dog has something special to offer.
