Amaryllis blooms

This is an Amaryllis plant my sister gave me last fall she said it was one she had given to my mom.

It has been gorgeous this year. I still have it in the pot but I am thinking about planting it

with some Iris, and paperwhite bulbs at our Livingston house. Then all the bulbs come back to being family members.

These blooms indicate springtime has arrived here in Texas.

Springtime

Springtime is my favorite time of the year.

It’s not cold it’s not too hot it just perfect.

Except for my allergies which have been horrible the last week.

I love working in the yard and the flower beds I like buying new plants and flowers and making everything look pretty.

This flowerbed I am currently working on it needs more petunias in a contrasting color.

The frog planter and balls are new I found this great place to buy this stuff not far from us. Not sure what I will plant in the frog planter.

Supercal Sunset Orange Petunia

This is a new variety of Petunia and I was able to snag 3 hanging baskets at Houston Garden Center.

I have no idea how much I paid for them I just wanted them lol.

This flower truly looks like a sunset.

These are supposed to be a bigger bloom and a rounder larger shape for the plant.

I love flowers, especially petunias. These will be planted in the ground for their visual impact.

Moo

This little calf moved in next door and I have been trying to get some cute pictures.

This was the pose I got most of the time it’s farther away than this.

One of the joys of country living is the livestock that is nearby. I love all the baby animals.

Looking out

The male cardinal is looking out for the female who was eating.

I often catch the males guarding the females. Around here I think its from the hawks who love easy prey.

I have found most the birds around here like the open feeders.

I have one closed feeder the titmouse, sparrows and woodpeckers like its a house type with plexiglass.

I have 12 bird feeders spread across our yard area which is one acre. I generally feed a few times a week and the rest of the time they are on their own. We have lots of plants and trees that produce bird friendly berries or fruit.

Nature gives us the presence of her beauty and requires so little from us. Appreciate the little things because their beauty is all around us.

Crossvine is blooming

We have this same variety of crossvine in several different locations in our yard and this year it is blooming like crazy.

The hummingbirds love this vine and you will see them often getting nectar from the flowers.

The paperwhites, wisteria, azaleas, and now the crossvine have all bloomed this year. I honestly thought the freeze would stop everything from blooming. It just goes to show you never doubt mother nature.

Flowers come in every color and shape plant different varieties and colors so you will always get to see something new.

The yard and garden

We spent the day working in the backyard and part of the front.

The yard seriously needs some rehab since the freeze everything is getting cut back and will have new buds soon enough.

We ran the leaf rake pull behind the lawnmower thingy and dumped it 6 times from leaves in the front yard. He then places the leaves between the rows in the garden and as they decompose the dirt gets raked up on the rows.

On top of that, we planted 22 tomato plants, bell pepper plants, seeds for yellow squash, zucchini squash, cucumbers, and potatoes. We still have some hot peppers to get planted and some marigold flowers to keep bugs away as well as some basil to plant between the tomato plants to enhance the flavor of the tomatoes.

We already have onions that survived the freeze and are growing well. We even have some cabbage that made it.

Jack did get a new area for Okra but we are not planting as much as last year I got so tired of picking okra.

I went to 3 garden centers over the last week looking for Vinca flowers and there are none to be found yet. I wanted the Vinca because they bloom from now until freeze. They never look wilted or windblown. I did see the Dianthus and may end up with some more of those they are pretty hardy as well.

He tilled one of the raised beds by the barn and there was 15″ earthworms in there they were HUGE. They make the dirt perfect for planting vegetables.

When springtime rolls around we never stop I am always needing some color in the yard and Jack is always anxious to get the garden planted. Today I am using one of the free photos we have access to on WordPress.

We have spring fever in Texas and today was a beautiful day.

The cat who posed

Mr. Bird is about 10 years he goes outside every morning and comes back into the house every evening. He is never out of sight so he stays on our two acres enjoying the great outdoors.

He loves to run fast and climb trees and I see him stalking birds. Other than that he’s resting the entire time he is outside.

He saw me the other day with my camera and hopped up on the bench for a quick pose with the impatiences and dianthus. I am not sure why he thought I needed to take his picture.

All the flowers and some of the containers of plants in this picture are from last year. We put them in the greenhouse over the winter and saved them all.

As much as I love planting flowers this is a good thing. I still made 3 trips to the nursery before this stay at home order went into place.

You never know when your posing cat might need a good photo background for pictures.

Flowers can add color to a shaded area as long as you pick out the right flowers. This area is 90% shade all day long.

Add a splash of color to your yard and see what a difference it can make.

Blooming Daylilies

It is that time of year when the daylilies bloom.

This year they are doing really well I think its because we have had so much rain.

Through the years we have moved a few into the backyard secret garden area but I found a new place to move some in the front yard.

I love it when flowers multiply and you can share them with someone special or move a few to a new location.

Pretty little butterfly

Everywhere we look there are butterflies in all colors, shapes, and sizes.

Springtime is such a wonderful time of the year we get to see nature come back to life again and enjoy her beauty.

Cherish each day go outdoors and feel the sun on your skin, the breeze in your hair, take a deep breath and enjoy the beauty.

Nature puts on a new movie every day but you have to get outdoors to see it.
