Meet Honey

Honey is an 8 week old miniature Dachshund that our daughter added to their family of dogs. As you can tell she is a blonde.

Little Lady and The Tramp have welcomed her to the Weenie Dog Family and she and Little Lady play chase and wrestle while Tramp tracks whatever critters have crossed the paths of their yard. He gets on a trail and gets distracted.

She came over to play in the clover in the pasture it was a hoot to watch her she would disappear because the clover was taller than her. Then she would come out soaking wet from the morning dew. Hopping through the clover like a rabbit she was all worn out by the time she was done and went and took a nap.

I am sure there will be more photo sessions of Miss Honey coming soon.

Cricket in the clover

Miss. Cricket is the first one to get to do Clover pics this year.

With our 3 dogs its much easier for me to do pics of them one at a time.

Cricket is 13 months old and probably still about the same weight of 150#s she seems like she has gotten taller.

She loves to eat sticks, wood and play fetch for about 10 throws at the most believe it or not she runs fast.

When she’s running toward you it will scare you to death because you think she is going to broadside you and knock you down but she always avoids doing it.

She loves to put her feet in her water bowl not sure what that is all about. Sometimes I catch her splashing in the water bowl and she has a trough that she can actually get it but rarely does.

Her food intake is 2 x a day 3 cups each feeding.

Sometimes this year Cricket will be bred for the first time. It has to be after August because registered dogs have to be 18 months old to breed the first time. Cricket is dual registered so she is super special lol.

We tried several things with these pictures full sun head-on or shaded by Jack who was standing in front of her on the laying down picture. Her actual coloring shows better in the full sun picture. Look at the size of her head! When she puts an XL Chunk It ball in her mouth it disappears. You do not even know she has the ball in her mouth.

Dogs have a way of stealing your heart and melting your soul but most of all changing your life forever.

Elvis the Cane Corso Pup

This is 8 week old Elvis he is one of the survivors of Ravens last litter.

We are babysitting the grandkids this weekend and this puppy. He went to his new home yesterday in San Antonio. The grandkids go back home today lol.

He just had his ears cut on Thursday and has white stiches so if you notice a thread coming out his ear its just the stich thread.

He has a cleft lip but it’s just the lip, not the roof of his mouth that is why he is called Elvis see his little gap in the middle of his mouth. I can just see how cute this will be when he gets his big teeth in showing off a new tooth.

This pup has a cute personality and followed me around all day long yesterday and slept in Jacks lap.

Puppy breath and puppy kisses will make anyone’s days brighter.

Three little Dachshunds

Three and a half weeks old and when they see people here they come for some attention wagging their tails.

I love that their colors are all so different. Our daughter has studied genetics and understands this a lot more than I do. The colors of the mom and dad produce the colors you end up with. I think her combination seems to be working out well because all these colors are beautiful.

I think our grandkids have spoiled these little cuties. Yesterday they were holding them wrapped in towels while they were watching tv. The towels were in case they happened to pee on them lol.

Little puppies can put a smile on anyone’s face..

Weenie Dog Wedding

On Monday we had a Dachshund ( weenie dog ) wedding for Little Lady and the Tramp he is about 2 1/2 years old she is 2 years and 4 months.

She is expecting her first litter of puppies and due this coming Sunday but we figure it will be sooner.

I think she is going to have 5 puppies sometimes I am right on my puppy guesses but I have never guessed one this small.

They are both Miniature long hair Dachshunds that are AKC registered. She is smaller than him as you can tell by their faces.

There will be puppy pics in the next few weeks.

They both have great personalities but he is more hyper than she is. Here is the link to our daughter Jeanelle’s WordPress Blog for further information.

Big headed Cricket

Our big headed Cricket has been quite busy.

For her 9 month adventure she ate a 3 year old crepe myrtle tree and a remote control for the tv. No worries the batteries were still in the remote.

You have to be on your toes all the time with this young lady.

It was not like she did not have large balls, small balls, toys, full size tires, large sticks, ropes and a place to dig along with a water tank, swimming pool and large rocks she moves all around the yard to chew on.

Just when you think you have enough chew things in the yard for her she decides to find something new.

Cane Corso puppies are a great deal of fun but they need constant entertainment if not boredom catches up to them and they ruin something you wanted to keep. My knockout roses are in a large raised square bed that had large wooden round orbs on each corner. She ate the orbs that were bigger than her mouth.

Everything they eat when they are bored tends to be something that is not intended for dogs.

I will be so glad when this puppy stage is over for the big headed Cricket.

Shady Acres Rosharon should be having puppies in mid December from Raven and Zelda both Cane Corso’s Females are bred. There has been a list of people waiting for months for the next batch of puppies that have already put down deposits.

Mako bred both the females this was the first time for him to be the stud since he was 19 months old. He is the Formentino (dark beige color) male she got as a puppy that has the best personality.

Crickets trainer

This is Amanda who is crickets trainer from Pearland K 9 Training. She is a CPDT-KA certified trainer with three years experience.

She and Cricket get a long great. Cricket has learned sit, stay, come on, down, leave it ( such as a treat etc). She will be learning let go this next week.

Then Cricket will be moving to socialization at the park. We have not been to the park since we have been isolating so this will be interesting for us both.

Walking down our street your not going to run into any people that are walking so there is no socializing her that way.

I want to be able to take Cricket on walks to the park and even to Petsmart or Petco without worry. With three dogs we would have to take turns going to the park.

We took this picture to show off Crickets size I think you all can tell she is just a tiny little 7 month old puppy.

It has been great working with Amanda I highly recommend her if you live in our area.

Cricket is 7 months old

Cricket is our 7 months old Cane Corso puppy who weighs about 115#’s.

The boys from this litter are around 125 – 130#s.

She is a very big girl who is very smart and very protective of me.

Shady Acres Rosharon does a wonderful job with the quality of their pups and picking out really good matches for breeding purposes. Our daughter has it figured out which colors of pups you will get with the colors of the male and females you breed.

The sunflowers on her head was something I wanted to do for fun. I love dog photography sessions and I love to capture the unexpected with a large dog.

Cricket loves the grand kids and tries to sit on them she wants so badly to be a lap puppy. She does not realize her size she just knows she is a puppy that drools a lot.

Every morning around 5 a.m. she whines and cries for her breakfast she does the same thing in the afternoon around 4 p.m. She is very verbal and is not ashamed to show you.

All three of the dogs get a long great and play well together.

Every dog has a unique personality and they all do little things to show off who they really are.

Cricket is 6 months old

Cricket our Cane Corso pup turned 6 months old on August 2nd.

She is starting obedience training on August 10th. This lady will come to our home 2 x per week and work on all her commands and teach her to act like a well-behaved lady.

She is very smart and seems to pick up stuff really fast so I really think this training should work out well for her.

She starts training indoors, then we move to the yard where there are some distractions. As the weeks go on we will move to the park where there are lots of people & distractions. A dog has to be able to focus on commands in all situations.

I feel like she’s probably a 100#s now she grows really fast.

I ordered her an XL kennel and she can stand up in it and sprawl out so this one should be the perfect size for her to sleep in at night. Her collars are 23″ I just bought two new ones for her.

The plastic kiddie pools are not lasting so I think its time we get a galvanized stock tank. I found one that is 2 ft wide x 4 ft long x 1 ft deep for $90.00. Sometimes I catch her in the pool sitting up cooling off and asleep lol.

I will post an update on Cricket’s training during the next month.

Big Feet

I have been trying to figure out how to show the size of Miss. Crickets feet.

At the vet last week she weighed in at a whopping 67.8#s and even the vet said she had some HUGE feet. Cricket is only 4 months and 3 weeks old.

While the twin granddaughters were here spending the night I had an idea.  A Foot comparison is the only true way to show off Cricket’s feet size.

This is Karina’s foot and Cricket’s foot side by side. Karina is 6 years old and wears a size 1 in kid’s shoes.

Cricket’s nickname is Stompy Stomp and I think this picture lets you see why she is called that. I wish I could add sound and then you all would really get the meaning of her nickname.
