Grocery Store Pick Up

Last night I placed an order via HEB Curbside this was our first time to do this. HEB is a supermarket located in Texas.

Our daughter Jeanelle does this all the time due to the fact she has 4 children under 7 years old.

I scheduled the pickup today between 7:30 – 8:00 a.m. Let me tell you the young man was loading our truck at 7:35 a.m.

I am totally in love with this new service.

Texas Star

I have had this Texas Star for at least 10 years.

We repaint it every few years to keep it from rusting away.

It goes on the front of the house on the add/ on side that is Hardiplank. I love it there because it shows up really good.

As you can see it needs a new paint job I normally use Rustoleum flat black on it.

At our house we are always doing projects right now we are repainting our house, adding the new cedar shutters Jack built and doing some minor repairs. It is a big job but it needed to be done.

I will post some pictures soon.

DIY Headboard Footboard/ Bench

We had this headboard and footboard already it was a queen size.

I wanted to make a swing out of it using as much of the materials as possible including the support boards.

Jack said it would be too heavy for that so we ended up doing a bench instead.

I wanted to leave the headboard as tall as we could for a statement piece.

I love the way this turned out.

This can be done with any headboard and footboard.

Anything we can recycle, repurpose and DIY I love.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone I hope you have your shopping done.

For me, it was easy this year I had everything but a few things shipped to our door.

Photo sessions with Miss Daisy have always been easy but add in Zoee and let the challenge begin lol

I will be posting some of the pics over the next week but I want to try one more time and get a shot I really really LOVE.

DIY Vases

This project is super easy the drying time is what takes the longest.

Blow up a balloon put it in a bucket or something to hold it still.

Cut newspaper into squares dip those into Elmer’s Glue and water or Modge Podge.

Cover the entire balloon except at the area at the top where the tye is. Apply with two good coats of the paper making sure all the edges are down good. Let dry overnight. Rotate the balloon to get all sides.

Mix up plaster of Paris sort of thick and paint all over the balloon. Let dry and reapply let that dry overnight.

The next day pop the balloon and decide how big you want the opening and just cut it with some old scissors.

Mix up some plaster of Paris and add to the inside of the vase to make it waterproof. This will take a while to dry but in the meantime, you can paint the outside.

I used metallic acrylics because they come in so many great colors. Apply like you want them trying not to cover one area too much with one color unless your only doing one color.

The stuff in my vases was weeds and things I picked in the pasture and dried out. I sprayed with clear spray to help with the shedding.

This is a great project to do with kids and very inexpensive.

Supplies Needed:

Newspaper

Plaster of Paris

Modge Podge or Elmers Glue

Balloon

Paint

Fall color

Our fall color is our cypress trees and I was able to get this picture the other day with nice skies.

This is our largest cypress. This tree stands about 15′ tall. It makes a mess when the leaves all fall off because it is right beside the pond.

The first clean up will be this weekend. I ordered us a mulcher/blower/vacuum with a bag to try out on this.

Enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors the skies, the trees and the breeze in the air.
