Texas style photography and words
This rose was so beautiful I needed to photograph it.
I grabbed the camera and my macro lens and started taking some pictures indoors.
Rose petals are a lot like life each layer represents a new day full of life & joy its beauty fades but the memories will always be there.
This hive of Yellowjackets was under our star jasmine.
Part of the Jasmine climbs a lattice fence and then part of it makes a walkway to our shed from the fence like an arbor of sorts.
Our daughter Jeanelle walked under it and then she was bitten a few times. This could have been very dangerous if they had all attacked.
Thank goodness the grandkids were not stung.
Jack was able to find the hive and take care of it.
Sometimes they build hives in places you never would think about so always check around you house and in your bushes very well.
I had been wanting some airplants for quite a while. I love how they look and they are fun to display in different ways.
Here are a few of mine but after I did the pictures I remembered that there were two more in our bedroom that did not get their pics taken.
I have them scattered through out the house in different locations.
I bought a large order of them and shared them with my sister Sheri. All the plants were in really good shape even though they were mail ordered.
They are a funny little plant I water these about every 5 days I find if not they dry out and start to shrivel. There is no soil, no rocks just some fake moss in a few of the containers for looks.
I made the concrete wire containers as well as the one on the stand. The shells and the salt lamp I already had.
Sometimes it is the tiny things in life that bring us such joy and can always put a smile on our face.
I started following this young green Anole lizard with my macro lens on Friday morning.
This was a tiny lizard maybe 4″ total in length.
When I was editing that was when I noticed this picture consisted of mostly greens.
Try taking a picture outdoors that includes mostly one color. Make sure there is a foreground and background.
Sometimes thinking outside the box can be a way to show off your creativity.
I love working with concrete and this weekend I finally got a chance to cast a few concrete leaves.
For this leaf I used a taro leaf it is one of our bog plants for the pond but it is similiar to an elephant ear plant. This was a really large one.
The first one turned out great, the next two I broke because I kept messing with them before they were cured but the fourth one is ready to paint today. I suggest letting them dry 24 hours before touching them.
I wanted these leaves to have glamourous rich type sheen so I used metallic paints in several different greens and golds. Then I used a regular brown on the stems.
These concrete leaves allowed me to be creative, cast something new in a media I love working with & paint it for its final reveal.
This leaf will be used for a bird feeder to hang in the trees. I hope I can get a few more made this week.
These leaves could also make a beautiful decor piece for your home or even a shallow bird bath.

Capturing angles in pictures sometimes gives us a little bit different perspective.
This is a Golden Dewdrop Duranta plant and its flowers are tiny but very pretty.
Everyday gives us the opportunity to enjoy life to the fullest.
Open your eyes to see nature and your ears to hear it.
Look around at the flowers, trees, grass, and the sky.
Listen to the birds sing.
Tune into to nature her beauty is wonderful.
In Texas, the Coral Trumpet vine grows wild it is beautiful but it can be very invasive.
My husband found some small plants at work about 6 years ago and brought them home. Now, these vines take up about 10ft length and 8 ft height in our backyard on a lattice fence that is for privacy.
They would bloom more if we would remove some of the canopies of trees and bushes they are planted under.
This color is amazing and the way the vine grows allows this plant to put on quite a show.
Spending time outside in our yard and taking in the beauty all around us is one of my favorite things to do.
Where there is a sick or dead tree it becomes a host for many colorful things.
This limb fell off during a rainstorm.
On each of the limbs were lichen, moss & algae and there were all kinds of it.
I love photographing stuff like this for the colors, textures and the close-up examination using my macro lens.
I love taking pictures of roses after rain or with morning dew on the petals.
Knock out roses are blooming pretty much year round around here. Right now they are very very happy. Roses are so inspirational to me they show such beauty in the petals.
Sunday we had some rain so I was able to get a few shots of the roses. I decided to give them each a post over the next week.
