A little bit of color

We do not get a lot of fall colors here in our part of Texas.

Our daughter Jeanelle said that East Texas has a lot more color changes but there are a lot of different kinds of trees in that area than there are here.

Here are a few pics I took yesterday while walking around our yard and pasture looking for some fall colors.

The rusted pipe fence behind us looks like it has always been there and it was put up this year.

Fall is a beautiful time of the year and the temperatures here can be amazing enjoy the great outdoors while the temperatures are nice and the scenery is changing.

Sunflowers

I love sunflowers but sometimes the birds plant them in strange places.

This year we had 3 large plants that came up smack dab in the middle of the front flower bed and they were 10 – 12 feet tall.

Once I had enough Jack cut them down and fed them to my brother in laws chickens.

They always face towards the sun which is backwards to where you are looking.

I have no idea what kind these were but they were tall plants but the flowers were tea cup or smaller.

The wildlife always contributes to the landscape in one way or another and we appreciate your contribution.

Variegated Shell Ginger

Variegated Shell Ginger is one of my favorite plants.

We have them planted in the shade accented by sword fern they are under two very large 40 year old oak trees.

Since there were no freezes in the past few winters they are thriving. Currently, they are about 5 foot + tall and 8 foot wide or more in all four directions. Needless to say, they multiply like crazy and then you can share with your friends.

If it freezes they die back and they will not bloom the next spring. They will come back but it will take them some time to get full again.

The blooms start out as a pod looking thing then all the white blooms start showing and those open up to yellow flowers. They are quite striking.

We started out with a one-gallon container of the ginger and now I could give 10 people all a gallon and it would never look like I touched it.

My husband thinks we should sell these plants so he has about 20 in quart containers and another 10 + in gallon containers.

When you landscape your yard research your plants and always buy stuff that multiplies then you can move it to several different locations. Make sure you pay attention to the sun requirements.

A beautiful well-manicured yard shows off the time and love you have put into it.

Foggy morning sketch

Lately, I have been playing a lot in the sketch options on my photo editing program.

This picture is in our pasture but across the street and I like the way this one turned out.

Some pictures work out better than others when trying this out.

The color of grass

In the pastures this time of year there are all these weird weeds and grass that come up.

We picked some to dry out when it was fuzzy and when it was not.

I played with the editing on the same picture to get 3 different versions.

The first is color, then cream tone, then black and white.

I think I prefer the color and the cream one the best.

Playing around with the editing is a lot of fun & it can really change up an image.

Beautiful day in Texas

Today was a beautiful day lots of sunshine, puffy white clouds and animals all around.

This horse belongs to our daughters neighbor but he is beautiful. When I saw him standing by the trees and fence I knew I needed a picture.
