Have a safe and happy July 4th.

I know we are all very tired of this COVID 19 pandemic stuff.

Texas opened back up way to soon we all knew this at the time but some of us still stayed home while many went out to eat or to the bars.

If people had stayed home we would not be getting this 2nd phase as bad as we are. This week Pearland, Manvel, Alvin, and Houston all have put in face mask orders so if you are in these towns in public you must wear a facemask.

Thank goodness they closed the beaches because everyone loves the beach and people would be migrating there this weekend.

We have been blessed and have not been sick. We have only been around our daughter, son in law, and grandkids, and my mother n law. We are avoiding most people.

My husband and I have been isolating as much as possible since the end of March.

All of our groceries are picked up on curbside, I get a few Amazon deliveries a week and a chewy and a Walmart or 2 every month. If by chance we had to go into a store we wear a face mask and use hand sanitizer and the wipes.

I spray the house with Clorox disinfecting spray every few days.

All the groceries are wiped down before being put up all the bags are tossed in the garbage.

We have only picked up food 4 times in 98 days and I am so tired of my own cooking. That is why I have been making new stuff lots and lots of new stuff. I even made a cornbread zucchini dish that was amazing.

I am tired of staying home but I know this is what is best for everyone.

I feel like we have done as much as we possibly can do for the last 98 days I just wish everyone would listen and do the same.

We still have plenty of disposable masks, some mask my mother n law made me and lots and lots of hand sanitizer and antibacterial soap from my auction wins.

Now only if I could find rubbing alcohol.

If you must celebrate do it with ONLY your household do not bring anyone else into your house be smart about this.

At this point, everyone who has been in contact with 10 people is sharing germs with those who have not been in contact with others. This is how the virus spreads.

If you have been around other people at work or at the stores do not risk being around the elderly or those with compromised immune systems.

We have shared over 500 cucumbers but we have been very smart about this. We place them in clear bags( I also won at auction) on the tailgate to my truck people text me when they are on their way to pick up their cucumbers. This has allowed us to share with our community but not interact with the public.

If everyone does their part we can get through this but it has to be all of us doing this together.

Happy July 4th – Stay Safe and wear your face mask.

FEAR

The word fear can mean so much in a time like this.

The Rapper Pitbull says fear can mean two things.

Forget Everything and Run or it can mean Face Everything and Rise.

Click the link below to hear the song he wrote for the world anthem for the current pandemic we are in with coronavirus.

Pass it on so everyone can Face Everything and Rise.

I BELIEVE WE WILL WIN

Disinfectants, sanitizers, and germs

When the Corovirus hit your area what did you already have and not have to rush out and get?

We had plenty of toilet paper and paper towels, 2 gallons of Clorox, Clorox disinfecting wipes, waterless hand sanitizer soap, Lysol laundry sanitizer, Lysol toilet bowl cleaner, and the good old brown Lysol. These are things we keep all the time. Anytime someone has a cough or cold we Clorox our drinking glasses. Toilets get cleaned and wiped off daily. Cabinets, sinks, and tubs get wiped down with whatever disinfectant is close by but this is something we do all the time.

We had plenty of mask because of my concrete work. The gloves we had were a joke but our daughter gave us some of hers.

We have not had to buy any of these things so my thinking is this why are all these items still out at the stores did people not clean, to begin with?

Did everyone use organic items that did not disinfect now they’re scared and they are buying disinfectants? I need to know the answer to these questions. LOL.

Meat ran out at the stores did everyone normally go out to eat?

The Lysol laundry sanitizer is on automatic shipments from Amazon I have been using it for a few years now. Well LOW and BEHOLD my delivery for today is on backorder. This makes me mad because auto-shipments should be there. This I will run out of. Everything else is still holding up well.

We ran out of paper plates one time and we just ran out again but our daughter got us some at Costco.

We have used HEB Curbside for grocery pickups and about 3 weeks ago we had to wait 8 days to get our order now it’s down to 3.

I am determined to use the food we have first and my arsenal of disinfecting items that I already had, to begin with.

We have not supported eating out I feel like its safer to make your own food at this point.

How do you feel about all this and were you already stocked up on supplies?

Day 14 self-quarantine

Today is Day 14 of self-quarantine for me.

I have not left this yard or house. The only human contact I have had in 14 days in my husband. He has been picking up the supplies we need using senior hours that have been provided and taking Mother N Law her meals.

He even went and got 2 more yards of dirt we have been through 2 yards a few weeks ago. WHY you ask in case he gets bored lol. I think he’s scared they will run out of the dirt.

We worked in the yard all weekend and we both were exhausted.

He is down to 4 more work days and he will be officially retired. That’s two more this week and 2 next week.

I have some papers that need to be notarized and I need some more flowers for these new flower beds and flower pots.

At this point its a matter of when do I go out.

They said this week would be the worst as far as cases documented. That’s not encouraging to me wanting to get out there but I can not be a full-time hermit.

I do not like this.

9 days self quarantine

Today is day 9 of my self-quarantine.

I get bored easily and normally go into town a few times a week.

I have been taking some pics of flowers and a few of the dogs.

The good thing is I have a lot of craft supplies so I can create things. When I get tired of that I watch tv and I walk out in our yard and wander around with the dogs in tow. I can never do anything without them wanting to be in the middle of it. The oak trees are pollinating BIG TIME we need rain to wash it away.

I found something interesting I thought I would share. I have done lots of reading but this was the first time I read this about the surfaces.

I mixed in tea tree oil to some hand soap I  already had to make some antibacterial soap. Now my hands smell like pine sol lol.

Our local grocery store HEB now has a 7-day wait on curbside pickup. YIKES!

Lots of stores are closing which is a good thing because who really needs a new outfit for Coronavirus.

Germs and the Pandemic

What are you doing to protect your family during this pandemic?

Since I have high blood pressure, heart and lung issues I am taking extra precautions. My husband has high blood pressure and diabetes. We are trying to protect ourselves the best we can.

I have self quarantined for the last week. We only do HEB curbside pick up for groceries and we get Walmart and amazon deliveries. We go through the drive-through at CVS to pick up prescriptions.

Now what you have to remember is all your groceries, scripts and products have been touched by other people so disinfect boxes, packages and bottles of stuff with wet wipe disinfectants.

If you have some wipes that are dried out do not throw them away. Wet them with water and pour rubbing alcohol on them. Put in a zip lock and pack it into the container. Just remember to use these on surfaces only they work great.

I make meals for my mother n law she is 92 years old. Rather than me taking them over to her, my husband has been doing this for the last two weeks this was for both our safety. We will now change this to ringing the doorbell and doing a drop off only for her safety.

Elderly people should not be exposed to those who are around a lot of people my husband still has a few more weeks of working 3 day work weeks so, therefore, I think the drop off is the best option.

I keep Clorox disinfecting wipes so I have a few containers of those. I also have the brown Lysol,  & Lysol laundry sanitizer. On top of that, I have two gallons of Clorox. This is part of my normal cleaning products, not something I had to rush out and get.

I have a product called Oxvir Five 16 Concentrate it is a one-step disinfectant cleaner. This product is a Virucidal, Fungicidal, Bactericidal, Mildewcidal. It comes in 1 1/2 quart container of concentrate and its made to go on a hose and trust me very hard to get out otherwise. We figured out you can puncture the container and mix it up in a gallon jug but then you have now punctured this large container so glue the hole shut and tape with duct tape.

I have the quart containers of instant hand sanitizer that goes in the dispenser for commercial use.  I do love my auctions for cleaning products lol.

I feel as though this nightmare will not end anytime soon.  Wash your hands and then wash them again. Change out hand towels several times a day.  Disinfect doorknobs and surfaces that are touched often. Do not forget steering wheels and door handles in cars. Wipe off your credit and debit cards, the bottom of purses and handles and also your wallets.

Wash your children’s backpacks, shoes, etc.

Do not hug anyone, shake hands or get more than 6 feet from those you have to be around in stores or work.

Children are not showing symptoms like adults so do not trust the fact they are not sick today because they might be sick tomorrow. We have not been around our grandchildren in over a week.

We can all get through this by taking precautions and being smart and most of all using common sense.
