Daisy’s Corneal Ulcer

I had to take Daisy to the vet on Thursday.

We are using a local vet that has a new practice. I felt like their charges were cheaper than the bigger vets in our area but at the same time, you need to be careful at these vet offices because they find reasons to charge you for one more thing.

Daisy had been winking at me all day Wednesday so I knew something was wrong with her eye. I was worried she might have lost her sight.

After staining it the vet discovered she had a corneal ulcer which is often caused by trauma like dogs playing, or a stick, etc. She and Zoee always play so this is not surprising but now Zoee is trying to kiss the eye back to good health like she knows it’s bothering her. This is driving Jack and me both crazy.

She has eye drops every 8 hours for a week then every 12 hours for 2 weeks and anti-inflammatories for irritation caused by the ulcer.

All in all, she is fine but it’s a good thing I noticed her winking at me lol.

Daisy girl turns 9 years old

It seems like yesterday when we had this tiny little boxer we named Daisy.

Today she turns 9 years old.

She was an aggressive little pup and very opinionated. She hated long sleeves on anyone. The vet told us he thought whoever removed her dew claw and tail had long sleeves and they did a bad job on the dew- claw and probably hurt her.

We got her out of this stage and she became very playful loving to play fetch and jumping as high as she could and doing boxer acrobats. Then cooling off in her plastic pool like she was relaxing after a long hard day.

She still loves the Chunk It balls the orange one that is basically indestructible and she loves the big tug a war ball called the Jolly Ball.

She still talks to me when I talk directly to her and ask her questions lol. She loves a treat when she comes in from outside.

She sleeps more now and plays less but gets her energy spurts sometimes.

Pics with her ears like she’s flying I love and Jack says she’s the flying nun. She is still very photogenic and always has been.

Even though she’s a little bossy she will always be my Daisy Girl and I love her very much.

Happy 9th Birthday Daisy I hope someone gives you extra treats today lol.

Daisy girl

I found this picture from last year of Daisy and the way her head was tilted was so cute.

I decided I needed to post it so Daisy could say HELLO.

She is a talker you talk to her she talks back I have no idea what she is saying but she does talk.

Dogs bring lots of smiles to your life and joy to your heart.

Zoee turned three

Miss. Zoee turned three years old on Monday.

She finally hit 53#s and is looking really good I think last year she was around 37#s.

Still a snuggle bug wanting under your covers and maybe laying in your lap.

She loves the outdoors and would rather spend her time outside than inside even in the heat.

Zoee is a very happy boxer dog loves to meet and jump on everyone she sees that hyper butt has not gotten any better.

Happy 2nd Birthday Zoee

Zoee is two years old today she is one of our two boxer dogs.

Happy Birthday Miss Zoee.

She is just as hyper as she was at 5 months old when we got her.

Of the 3 dogs, she is the one who is always running, jumping, and hopping all day long.

She lives to run like a greyhound across the yard making tight turns and leaving the other two in her dust in the 1/2 acre back yard.

You can not water your plants with her in the yard because she loves to get the spray of the hose and you spend all your time playing with her.

We love our Zoee she is the sweetest boxer dog shes a snuggler and a lightweight compared to the other two.

She was a great addition to our family as a companion for Daisy and she has been great playing with Cricket and teaching her tricks of the trade. All 3 dogs get along great probably because they are all 3 females.

She was not cooperating for her photo session so hopefully more pics soon.

Dogs will put a smile on your face and find a special place in your heart but most of all they will change your life forever.

Up close and personal

Daisy loves to distract me when I have the camera.

She came up to me when I was sitting down outside and looked straight into my macro lens. I could not resist taking a picture of her but did not realize how good it would turn out.

Its moments like this that capture your heart and make you want to get your pet’s portraits done.

Daisy Mae Praying

Daisy would like everyone to know she is saying her prayers for our country.

I caught her in this pose and could not resist taking her picture and making this post. Daisy rarely and I do mean rarely gets on the couch.

I think we all need this a little bit of inspiration by none other than our boxer Daisy Mae.

Life with two boxers

Daisy and Zoee play like this from the time they get up in the morning until they go to bed at night.

Being outdoors works out the best because they can run and run and do not have interference.

Inside they drag two baskets of toys from the den to the office.

This was the best thing for Daisy she was very lonely for dog companionship and now she has Zoee. She is not the least bit jealous she is the mother/sister and takes her job quite seriously.

I know Zoee has gained some weight in the last 9 days. Yesterday I added some pumpkin in her diet because that is supposed to help with weight gain.

I hope to get some really good action shots of them running soon.

Happy Monday

Daisy Mae would like to wish everyone a Happy Monday have a good day and a great week.

I took this picture of her after she had been playing fetch yesterday and decided to take a break.

She had her checkup a few weeks ago and weighed in at 67.1 #’s she is in perfect health and has really good teeth. This is probably due to the fact she eats about 5 dog biscuits a day.

Daisy still loves to play fetch several times a day and cools off in her pool she is very active at 5 – years old. She likes to be wherever I am even if I am only going outside for a few minutes she wants to go to.

Dogs bring out the best in all of us and they can always put a smile on your face when they try talking to you.

Daisy Mae and the Blue Jay

The other day I was watching a blue jay in a new bird bath in the backyard. I grabbed my camera to get outside to get a few pics.

Well, Miss. Daisy pushed her way out the door and then put herself in between the bird bath and me like she knew what I was doing. Either that or she wanted to pose for pictures who knows with Miss. Daisy.

The next day while I was looking out the den window I spotted him again this time I stayed in the house and shot through the window using my 400 mm lens. I did this just so Daisy would not know what I was doing lol. She always has to be the center of attention.

He sure is a cute little one and he really seems to love the bird bath.

I have always put the bird baths in the shade and never had a lot of action this one is in the sun most of the day and gets noticed by the birds. Maybe I should move the other two.
