Sweet Potato Vine

This sweet Potato Vine was started from a few sprigs off another plant I had.

We had built small flower beds in front of the greenhouse to add interest little did we know this would happen. Now it is about 5ft. tall and 8 ft. wide.

This is pretty much in full sun from 10 a.m. on. The lizards seem to like it.

Some things like growing in Manvel, Texas. I think from this plant I will start a bunch of small ones to sell next spring.

Around here we are always thinking up ideas.

  1. It’s pretty. You could do both colors, the yellow green and the purple, next year. I put one of those plants in each of my planter pots one year. They totally took over and the other plants didn’t do well from mid-summer on. When I emptied the pots they were basically filled with what looked like sweet potatoes below the dirt, I think the plants took all the water and nutrients for themselves to grow those potatoes!

    1. I have both kinds but the green one seems to like the full sun better here lol. They say you can plant those potatoes for more plants next year.
