This is a male Eastern Bluebird he was flying in and out of our cypress tree.
I had a really hard time getting a picture of him.
I love their colors and you can always get a glimpse of them out of the corner of your eye because of the bright blue color.
There have been quite a few of these birds around here we are trying to get them to nest but they are so picky about their birdhouses. They like something about six feet above the ground not a lot higher and for sure, not lower.
I want to put out some dried mealworms because they are supposed to love those but I need to figure out a feeder for them.
If anyone feeds these birds let me know what you feed them & what type of feeder they like.
We have two. The mountain bluebird shows up around 6,000 ft. and the Western bluebird.

I have them here too….you are right, they are picky! In the 25 years here, they have nested in our boxes 2 times. And last year I put out mealworms for them during an ice storm. They had been sitting around our heated bird bath. They ignored the mealworms, but the squirrels loved them!
